When God moves in a small town

September 20, 2012 — 8 Comments

In my little town of Kountze, Texas, God is moving big time!! I cannot tell you how excited we are! If you haven’t already heard about it, our local high school cheerleaders chose to create the signs that the football team runs through with Scriptures on them.

Please note that they did not do this under a teacher’s supervision, it was the students choice. They did not do this with school supplies or on school time. This was done at one of their houses and was done with their own supplies. Continue Reading…

In the waiting

May 1, 2012 — 6 Comments

I heard a comment this week that this person had been praying about something for over a year and had not heard anything back from God on it and was really stressed about it. I have to tell you, I would be too and have been on more than one occasion. I know what it’s like to spend time wrestling with God over a problem, issue, decision, etc. and feel like He’s not answering. I know what it’s like to wait for years for some kind of answer. It’s frustrating and hard and so on and so on. I hate waiting, I want to know now. And that is often a downfall for me.  Continue Reading…

Slow Fade

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ~Ephesians 6:10-13 Continue Reading…

Chains Hit the Ground

April 3, 2012 — 4 Comments

I was listening to music one day and came across this video on YouTube by Leeland called “Chains Hit the Ground”. In the song are some lyrics that just gripped my heart:

The thorns of my pain You wore in a crown
When You bowed Your head
Your love was poured out
And my chains hit the ground Continue Reading…

Being Vulnerable

February 16, 2012 — 14 Comments

It’s vulnerability time on Blessed Beyond Measure…

What does it mean to be vulnerable? Miriam Webster’s dictionary describes vulnerable as:

1. capable of being physically or emotionally wounded
2. open to attack or damage

Wow, talk about hard. I mean, we know that being vulnerable can make us feel scared, weak, etc., but to see it in black and white in the dictionary, to see that it means we could be attacked or wounded, that hits hard. And I’m about to very vulnerable with y’all. Continue Reading…

Thorn in the Flesh

January 26, 2012 — 4 Comments

In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul talks about a thorn in the flesh, a weak area in his life. We are not told whether or not it is a literal, physical affliction, a sin he constantly deals with or something else entirely, but we know that Paul struggled. And in verse 8 and 9 he says,

8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. Continue Reading…
